Almost September!

After about 10 days of slow fishing from the surf and pier, the surfzone has sprung back to life. Reports from Atlantic Beach show that the Spanish mackerel are feeding again. The brighter colors seem to be doing the trick as one customer reported catching several nice-sized fish on the Clown (Pink/Green/Chartreuse) jig in the 1 and 1.5 oz. Those will soon be available to order here.

Good news for albie fishermen. I personally saw small pods near the beach on two occasions within the past week. This is very early, but I can also say from experience, early September is when albies start rushing to the beaches to feed on glass minnow and red anchovies.

I plan on taking a quick ride over to Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout in the next week or so to look for albies. Stay tuned!
