Pier/Surf Fishing Report

With some fishing piers closed for the season, there isn’t much to report along Emerald Isle and the Atlantic Beach areas. Speckled Trout have been plentiful in the surf, but on the smaller side. Fort Macon State Park, Radio Island and the jetties at Shackleford Banks have produced in large numbers. The 3/4 Gunslinger in a variety of colors, worked slowly, have produced consistent bites as well as traditional trout baits, hard and soft plastics.

False albacore fishing appears to be finished for the surf fishermen for the season, but there could be a few opportunities left in the year. Like most fish, if the bait returns, so will the albies.
